President's Day was originally called "Washington's Birthday," it was in honor of George Washington. His birthday was on February 22, 1732. The holiday was first celebrated in 1885. We don't always celebrate President's Day on February 22nd because the holiday was moved to the third Monday in February.
Another famous president's birthday we celebrate is Abraham Lincoln's. He was born on February 12, 1809. In 1968, Congress thought about combining the two birthdays into just one holiday but decided not to do it. So we at Sussman Middle School, almost always are lucky enough to get both president's birthdays off.
What are you doing on your day off? Let me know.
