Mudslinging

Mudslinging is using insults, put-downs, rumors and/or accusations, especially ones that are not true, to make an opponent look bad.

If you think Former Secretary Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are saying bad things about each other than you might be interested  in learning that mudslinging is very common in political campaigns. In fact, mudslinging has been around since the very first political election for president.

Probably one of the most famous cases of presidential mudslinging occurred  between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson in 1828.
